Smoke over the chimneys, hammers ringing, barges on the canals. Carbonia is waking up — and you decide whose mills become the heart of a new age.
Age of Steel is an economic board-style strategy game for 2–4 players. Build mines, foundries, cotton mills and breweries, link towns with canals and later railways, sell your goods through the ports and become the wealthiest industrialist of the age.
A living map
- Zoom in and the pieces become a town: factories, houses, signposts.
- Every build is a moment: scaffolding, dust, the building rises and your flag lands on the roof.
- Working factories smoke; barges and locomotives run along your links.
- Daylight for the Canal Era, dusk for the Rail Era as windows light up.
Two eras, one empire
- Canal Era: build and ship by water.
- Rail Era: canals are gone, rails need coal and towns grow bigger.
- Score at the end of each era for your industries and links.
Six industries
- Coal, iron, cotton, pottery, goods and beer.
- Each building comes in three sizes and several levels: higher levels cost more and score more.
- Sell to the merchants in the ports and watch the coal and iron markets.
How to play
- An economic strategy game for 2–4 players: solo vs bots, on one phone, online or by correspondence.
- On your turn, play a card and take an action: build an industry, lay a canal or rail, sell goods, take a loan.
- Six industries: coal, iron, cotton, pottery, goods and beer. Industries need coal and iron — watch the market.
- Sell goods to merchants in ports — sold industries score points.
