Board Games by Sudarev — how to play

Checkers
- 12 pieces each on the dark squares. White moves first.
- A man moves one square diagonally forward but captures both forward and backward.
- Capturing is mandatory. If the same piece can capture again, it must continue.
- A man reaching the last row becomes a king that moves and captures any distance diagonally.
- You lose with no pieces or no moves left. 30 king moves without a capture is a draw.
Backgammon
- Long nardy: each player has 15 checkers, all starting on the “head”. Checkers travel around the board counter-clockwise into their home.
- Roll two dice and move by the numbers — one checker by the total or two checkers separately. Doubles are played four times.
- Only one checker may leave the head per turn. Exception: a first roll of 6-6, 4-4 or 3-3 lets two leave.
- You can’t land on a point held by an opponent’s checker. You can’t build a wall of six in a row unless an opponent’s checker is already ahead of it.
- When all 15 checkers are home, bear them off. The first to bear off all checkers wins.
Dominoes
- 28 tiles, seven each, the rest go to the boneyard.
- The lowest double starts. Match a tile to an open end with the same number.
- Can’t play — draw from the boneyard until you can. Boneyard empty — pass.
- First to play all tiles wins.
- Blocked game: the player with fewer pips in hand wins.
Battleship
- Each player has a 10×10 grid and a fleet: one 4-deck, two 3-deck, three 2-deck and four 1-deck ships.
- Ships never touch, even diagonally. They are placed for you — shuffle them before the first shot.
- Fire at the enemy grid. Hit — fire again; miss — the opponent’s turn.
- Cells around a sunk ship are marked automatically: no ships can be there.
- Sink the whole enemy fleet first to win.
Dice Poker
- Each round, players take turns rolling five dice.
- You may reroll any dice twice — mark the ones you keep.
- The higher hand wins the round. First to 3 rounds wins.
- Hands from high to low: five of a kind, four of a kind, full house, big straight 2–6, small straight 1–5, three of a kind, two pairs, pair.
- Equal hands are decided by the higher dice.
